The Formula
Throughout the history of college football ratings systems many different methods used to determine which is the best team. My power poll is merely another attempt at what may be the impossible: to objectively rank the best college football teams in the nation. My poll is a computer poll that is based purely on the numbers. I hope the details below with help you to better understand that working of my poll.
My formula consists of three main constituents:

Winning Percentage
If one knew absolutley nothing about two given teams, except for their record, and was asked, "Which team is better?" Then he (or she) would most likely reply with the name of the team with the better of the two records. Record or winning percentage is the first thing anyone looks at when attempting to determine who is the best team. This is why winning percentage is also the first thing that my poll looks at. The winning percentage is also weighted into the grand total more than any other component, however, because I am a firm believer of playing a challenging schedule, it does not hold a majority of the weight.

Strength of Schedule
Strength of Schedule is just about as important as winning percentage. Strength of schedule is tested similarly to how it is done in the BCS. I start with taking a team's opponent's record and a team's opponent's opponent's record and weighting them two-thrids to one-third just like the BCS. However, I also factor in the conference that a given opponent plays in. Certainly playing a team that has a .500 winning percentage in the SEC is quite different than playing a team that has a .500 winning percentage in the Sun Belt. Also if a team's opponent is ranked in the media polls their strength of schedule is improved.

Performance
Performance is divided into two parts. The Performance Summary and Quality Wins. The Performance Summary is a sort of combination of the previous two components. Basically, it tests how teams perform against its opponents. It takes into consideration both how the team performed (won/lost) and how good the opponent was (top 10 caliber or still looking for their first win). The other part of performance deals with the quality wins a team recieve. These are defined as wins over a current top 30 team.
